Lloyds Bank award for Freedom from Torture
We are delighted to announce Freedom from Torture was successful in its bid for the Lloyds Banking Group Community Fund Award, bringing in a very welcome £5,000 to the organisation.
Hundreds of people voted for Freedom from Torture and we really appreciate the tremendous efforts made by our supporters, friends and colleagues to help us get as many votes as possible.
Over three nail-biting months we watched as the voting figures mounted but only found out in September that we had secured the most votes in our North London area. The cheque was presented by Lloyds employee Andy Chambers who originally nominated us for the award, so a very special extra thanks is due to him. Above is a group of happy staff members holding the award certificate.
Noreen McKeever, corporate partnerships liaison, said: "Thank you so much to all who supported and campaigned for us - your vote will make a real difference to the lives of torture survivors."
